IVERMECTIN FOR MALARIA
A new tool for malaria control?
The purpose of this webinar is to create awareness and promote discussion regarding the state of the art of ivermectin for malaria and more specifically of what is currently being done in Mozambique.
The Malaria Ivermectin Forum ( MIF), launched in January this year (2022), is a platform for the sharing of information and engagement of key stakeholders in the two countries where the BOHEMIA trials are being conducted. It engages committed country leaders to convene in order to review and discuss the emerging ivermectin data from scientific trials, both from BOHEMIA and more broadly. The MIF also identifies national challenges and discusses potential programmatic implementation strategies in order to align with the different sectors and communities.
While the focus of the MIF is malaria, its members are cross-sectorial and from different disease groups.
ABOUT BOHEMIA PROJECT
BOHEMIA (Broad One Health Endectocide-based Malaria Intervention in Africa) aims to reduce malaria transmission by administering ivermectin to humans and livestock. Ivermectin is an endectocide, a drug with excellent safety profile that can kill ecto- and endoparasites, as well as mosquitoes that feed on treated humans or animals.
